Task Roulette (“the app,” “we,” “our”) is a personal focus and task-management app. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use it.
Everything you enter — your tasks, descriptions, categories, and focus session history — stays on your device. We have no servers that receive it, no accounts, no ads, and no trackers of any kind.
The one exception is buying Task Roulette Pro. Payments are handled by Apple, and our subscription provider is told that a subscription started, renewed, or ended. That's the only information that ever leaves your device, and it is never connected to your name, your email, or anything you typed into the app.
None, beyond what you choose to store locally on your own device. Specifically:
None of this is transmitted anywhere. We do not operate a backend server, and nothing you write in the app is sent to us or to anyone else.
If you subscribe to Task Roulette Pro, the payment itself is handled entirely by Apple. We never see your card details, billing address, or Apple ID.
To know whether your subscription is active, the app uses RevenueCat, a subscription-management service. RevenueCat receives the fact that a purchase happened — which plan, when it started, whether it renewed, expired, or was refunded — along with basic technical details such as your country and app version.
Two things about this are worth stating plainly:
RevenueCat processes this on our behalf so subscriptions work across reinstalls and devices. Their privacy policy is at revenuecat.com/privacy.
If you choose to block apps while focusing, the app uses Apple's Screen Time system (Family Controls).
We never learn which apps you picked. Apple's picker hands the app an opaque token rather than a list of names, by design. Task Roulette only ever knows how many things you selected. That selection stays on your device and is never transmitted.
The app does not monitor your app usage, screen time, or activity — it only raises and lowers a block for the length of a session you started yourself.
We do not collect: your name, email, location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data, advertising identifiers, device analytics, crash reports, or usage/behavioral tracking of any kind. The app contains no advertising or tracking SDKs, and nothing in it follows you across other apps or websites.
Since your task data never leaves your device, it is used only to run the app's own features for you: picking a random task, running the focus timer, and showing your own stats back to you.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. Your tasks and stats are never shared with anyone, because they never leave your device.
The only third parties involved at all are Apple, which processes payments, and RevenueCat, which tells the app whether your subscription is active. Both are limited to purchase information, as described above.
Your data stays on your device for as long as the app is installed. You can delete individual tasks and sessions at any time within the app, or remove all app data by deleting the app from your device.
Settings includes an Export option that writes your tasks, stats, categories, and preferences to a file you choose the destination for. That file is created on your device and handed to whatever app or service you pick — it is never sent to us. Once you export it, the file is yours to manage, and anywhere you save it is governed by that service's own privacy policy.
Task Roulette does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app has no accounts and asks for no personal details, and the only information that leaves the device is anonymous subscription status.
Notifications. The app asks for permission to send you notifications so it can tell you when a focus session has finished, and — if you start a subscription trial — remind you before you are charged. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. Nothing about them is sent to us or to any third party, and declining the permission does not affect any other feature.
Screen Time. If you want apps blocked during focus sessions, iOS asks you to grant Screen Time access. This is what lets the app raise a block; it does not let us see your usage, and it can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings. Declining it leaves every other feature working.
Live Activities. With your permission, iOS shows the focus countdown on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. It displays the task name you typed and the time remaining, on your device only. Nothing is sent anywhere, and you can turn Live Activities off in iOS Settings.
Haptics. The app uses on-device haptic feedback (vibration) for interaction cues. This involves no data collection and requires no permission grant beyond what your OS provides by default.
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds an optional feature that involves data leaving the device — we will update this page and revise the effective date above.
